In Cellular ‘Cheaters’ Give Rise to Cancer by George Johnson, he explains what cancer is and how it is “cheating” the system. Cancer is an ongoing problem and is affecting a lot people throughout the world, but not many people know what causes cancer or how cancer happens. Cancer is caused when a cell starts to grow out of control and pushing out other healthy cells to allow the cancer to spread. Most people when they hear cancer they just think of breast cancer or lung cancer, but, most people don’t know that any living organism can still have the same effects of cancer on them. Scientist are constantly trying to find a way cheap and easy way to stop the uncontrollable growth of the cell.
The author of the article doesn’t really have an opinion on cancer because it is more of an informative article. My only personal experience with cancer is when my great grandmother died of lung cancer. I believe that cancer is curable but it will be a while before scientists figure out how to either stop or control the overgrowth of cells. It will also take a massive amount of funding in order to make it affordable for every person who is effected by any type of cancer. Luckily scientists are working hard every day trying to combat cancer and possibly save hundreds of thousands of lives.
