Frank Bruni’s posts are very argumentative and persuasive. He always has a clear position and uses logical and textual evidence to support his argument. I also like that he includes personal experience or what he would’ve done in a certain situation to expand on his evidence. Depending on the topic he is covering on the post, Bruni uses a variety of appeals to convey his opinion to others. For example, in “What Family Really Means”, Frank uses an appeal to sadness and nostalgia by explaining what a family consists of. Therefore, Frank uses appeals to convey his message to his audience.
In his posts, Frank brings multiple perspectives to the table. For example, in “Feminism, Hell and Hillary Clinton”, he presents the perspective of Clinton followers and non-followers. He also includes his personal belief towards Clinton. By providing different perspectives, Bruni can compose his post in a way that appeals to different people. He also asks rhetorical questions in his posts that lead to a discussion in the comment section of his posts. This is an important and imperative thing writers should do to influence others.
Frank Bruni is an exceptional journalist that captivates the audience with his writing. By using appeals, multiple perspectives, personal opinion and rhetorical question he conveys his audience. Following his posts has been an awesome experience and I can’t wait to read more!
